Where the work changes hands

  1. 1
    Authorize

Document rights and configure source access.

  2. 2
    Verify

Test origin and relay output on representative players.

  3. 3
    Operate

Monitor health and have a communication and fallback plan.

Start with a healthy origin

Validate manifests, segments, codecs, bitrate ladder, authorization, and player compatibility directly. Relay cannot repair a bad upstream stream.

Protect access intentionally

Use the relay’s playback controls as one layer in an authorized distribution plan. Do not treat a hard-to-guess URL as rights management or permission to republish.

Monitor the whole chain

A viewer depends on player, TransferSize relay, network, origin, encoder, and source. Instrument the origin and keep an operator runbook for the live window.

Build the first handoff

Start simple; add controls only when the job requires them.
